Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Grabs January 2024 Security Update

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE has already been upgraded to One UI 6.0 last month, and now another update has arrived. The latest one brings the January 2024 security patch to fix many critical vulnerabilities.

Samsung has released the January 2024 security patch update for the Galaxy S21 FE. It comes with the firmware version G990BXXS6FWL5. It’s a minor software update, so don’t expect to see new features or performance improvements. However, the update might improve the system stability and fix several bugs.

The January 2024 security patch for Samsung Galaxy devices fixes over 75 vulnerabilities found in the previous software version. It includes fixes to 5 vulnerabilities from Smsung related to notification service, Samsung DeX, Bluetooth, and MyFiles. The security patch resolves the improper authentication vulnerability in the Bluetooth pairing process. It allowed remote attackers to establish a pairing process without user interaction.

Currently, the update is available in several European countries. However, a wider rollout should not take more than a few days.

If you have a Galaxy S21 FE, manually check if the update is available. To do that, go to Settings > Software update and click the Download and install option.
