After months of beta testing, Samsung has finally put a date on the One UI 8.5 stable rollout. South Korea gets it first on May 6, with a broader global rollout kicking off on May 11 across Europe, Hong Kong, India, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan.
As you’d expect, the Galaxy S25 series leads the charge, including the Edge and FE variants. From there, Samsung plans to expand the update to the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S24 FE, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, and both the Tab S11 and Tab S10 series. Older flagship devices will reportedly follow at a later, unspecified date.
Mid-range Galaxy users aren’t entirely left out, but there’s a catch. Samsung says the last three generations of Galaxy A-series devices are eligible for One UI 8.5. That’s a fairly clear signal that any mid-range phone launched before 2023 won’t be seeing this update, even if it’s currently running One UI 8. If you’re unsure whether your device qualifies, here’s the full list of supported devices, which should give you a rough idea.
When the update does arrive, you’ll find it under Settings > Software update. The download size will vary depending on what you’re currently running. Devices already enrolled in the One UI 8.5 beta will receive a smaller incremental package, while those coming from One UI 8 can expect a download of several gigabytes, so a stable Wi-Fi connection is a good idea before you start.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that Samsung is already testing One UI 9 in the background, with the next major update expected to debut on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 later this year. Wrapping up the One UI 8.5 rollout quickly makes sense given that timeline.
