One UI 8.5 stable update rolls out to Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 globally

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 global rollout has officially kicked off for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, with beta participants in India among the first to receive the stable build.

Samsung had announced on May 6 that the global wave would start on May 11, and the company delivered on that promise. The foldables join the Galaxy S25 series, which is also picking up the update outside Korea right now, including the S25 Edge.

If you’ve been on the beta program, expect the download to be noticeably smaller since most of the changes are already baked into your build. Those jumping straight from One UI 8.0, though, should expect a much bigger package.

Don’t panic if the update isn’t showing up on your device just yet. The rollout is intentionally gradual, and Samsung monitors how the firmware performs before widening its reach. That’s standard practice, and broader availability typically follows within a few days.

South Korea completed its rollout in the first wave, which was focused on the latest devices. The second wave is already underway for 2024 flagships, so users of the Galaxy S24 series, S24 FE, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 should see the stable One UI 8.5 update arriving over the next few days. The Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy Z TriFold, and Galaxy Tab S11 series are also expected to join the rollout soon.

It’s a pretty smooth process. If you were part of the One UI 8.5 beta on the Z Fold 7 or Z Flip 7, the transition to stable should be straightforward. For everyone else, it’s worth keeping an eye on the updates section over the next few days as the rollout picks up pace.

We’ll keep you updated as more devices get added to the list.
