One UI 8.5 update rolling out to Galaxy Z Flip 6, Fold 6 in the US

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

Samsung’s stable One UI 8.5 rollout is picking up pace. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 are now receiving the update in the United States, just four days after it first landed in South Korea.

The update carries firmware version F741USQU3DZDP for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and F956USQU3DZDQ for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It’s a hefty download at over 4GB, which makes sense given just how much is packed into this release. Right now, it’s limited to carrier-locked variants on select networks, so unlocked model owners may need to wait a little longer.

What’s new in One UI 8.5?

The update brings a noticeably refreshed UI design alongside a solid lineup of new features. Call Screening is one of the more practical additions, letting your phone handle unknown or spam calls before they reach you. On the AI side, you can now edit images using text prompts, merge two photos together, and apply more portrait styles for both people and pet shots.

Bixby gets a meaningful upgrade here too. The assistant is now better at understanding natural language, and Perplexity AI integration has been added as well. The lock screen also gets more love, with expanded clock widget customization, more personalized Now Brief info, and weather backgrounds on the alarm screen. There’s even a built-in time zone converter, which is one of those small additions that’s genuinely useful for frequent travelers.

Camera fans will appreciate LOG video previews for LUTs, and the Quick Share feature now supports wireless file sharing with Apple devices. Storage Share rounds out the connectivity improvements. You can check our full One UI 8.5 feature breakdown for a deeper look at everything that’s changed.

If you’re on a carrier-locked Galaxy Z Flip 6 or Z Fold 6 in the US, head to Settings > Software update and tap Download and install. Once the download finishes, hit Install now and your phone will restart to complete the process.
