Telegram doesn’t allow users to download private or restricted videos. However, there are easy ways to bypass this download restriction and get the videos on your device to watch later or share with your friends. In this step-by-step guide, I’ll show you how to download restricted videos from Telegram on your Android, PC, or iOS device in many ways.
If you can’t download Telegram videos from a Telegram channel or group, it means that the group/channel owner has turned on “Restrict saving content” under Content protection in Telegram. It doesn’t allow the members to save the video or forward it to another person. However, it’s possible by using the methods shared below.

Download Restricted Videos From Telegram on Android / iOS
I have discovered two ways to download private or restricted videos from Telegram on an Android smartphone. For iOS, only the Telegram bot method works, as described in the first solution.
Method 1: Using a Telegram Bot
You can easily download restricted Telegram videos from channels using the Save Restricted Content bot. Here are the steps to follow:
Step 1: Add Save Restricted Content bot to your Telegram.
Step 2: Join the Save Restricted Content channel. [Required to use the bot]
Step 3: Send the private channel invite link. It is required for the bot to access the channel. [Not required for public channels.]
Step 4: Open the Telegram channel, tap on the three-dot icon on the video, and click Copy Link.
Step 5: Open the Save Restricted Content bot and paste the link.
Step 6: Wait for a few seconds. It will send you the video. Click the three-dot icon and tap Save to Gallery.
This bot limits how many private Telegram videos you can download in a day, but the next method doesn’t
Method 2: Using a File Manager
You can easily access restricted Telegram videos using a file manager. I’ll use Mi File Manager, but you can also use Files By Marc apps or Amaze File Manager.
Step 1: Download and install Mi File Manager from the Google Play Store.
Step 2: Launch the app and allow necessary permissions.
Step 3: Go to the Files tab and tap on Android. [If you don’t see the Android folder, tap on the three-dot icon and select Show hidden files.]
Step 4: Tap on Data and click View in Files.
Step 5: Go to Android -> data.
Step 6: Choose org.telegram.messenger. and go to files.
Step 7: Tap on Telegram and choose Telegram Video.
You have got access to the hidden Telegram videos folder where all your Telegram videos, including the private ones, are stored. Select the files and move them to your preferred location.
The file manager method only works on Android devices. If you have an iOS device, use the Telegram bot (solution #1) to download restricted videos.
Download Restricted Videos From Telegram on PC
You can download the private/restricted Telegram videos on your PC using these solutions.
Method 1: Using a Telegram Bot
You can use the Save Restricted Content bot to download restricted videos from Telegram. I’ve already mentioned the steps above. You can apply the same steps on your PC as well.
Method 2: Using the Snipping Tool
Another working way of getting the Telegram private videos saved to your PC is by screen recording using the Snipping tool. Simply play the Telegram video and record your screen using this tool to get the video.
Here are the steps:
Step 1: Search Snipping tool in the Windows search box and tap on the result.
Step 2: Tap on the video icon and click + New.
Step 3: Select the entire window to capture the full screen.
Step 4: Make sure you’ve already opened the Telegram channel.
Step 5: After the screen area selection, click Start to start recording the screen.
The recording will begin in 3 seconds. You have this much time to play the Telegram restricted video in full screen. Stop the recording to save the video on your PC.
