Galaxy XCover 7 Pro and XCover 6 Pro pick up May 2026 security patch

Samsung is pushing out a fresh security update to two of its rugged smartphones, the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro and the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro. The update brings the May 2026 security patch, which addresses 36 vulnerabilities present in the previous software version.

The rollout is currently live in Europe, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. If you’re on the XCover 7 Pro, look for firmware version G766BXXS7BZE2. XCover 6 Pro users, according to Mohammed Khatri, should see G736BXXSCGZE2 coming their way. To check for it manually, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

What makes these two devices a bit more interesting is their place in Samsung’s update lineup. The XCover 7 Pro and XCover 6 Pro are among only three Galaxy devices currently eligible for One UI 8.5, Samsung’s latest Android skin. That’s a short list, and it puts these rugged phones in rare company. One UI 8.5 itself brings a more consistent look across the interface, along with several new features, including Apple AirDrop support, which is a fairly notable addition for a Samsung update.

For now, though, this particular update is purely a security release. No new features, no UI changes. Just 36 security fixes to keep things locked down. That’s not a small number either. The May 2026 security patch has been making its way across Samsung’s lineup, and it’s good to see the XCover series getting attention alongside mainstream flagships.

The XCover line has always catered to a niche crowd, think fieldwork, warehouses, outdoor use, but Samsung seems committed to keeping these devices current on security, which is exactly what enterprise and industrial users need most. If you’re rocking either of these, go grab the update.
