What’s New in One UI 6.1

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are eligible for a bite of Galaxy AI as Samsung won’t bring all AI features to these devices. The devices are only getting the Circle to Search feature in the name of Galaxy AI.

Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3 One UI 6.1 Update Progress

[May 14, 2024]: (update-a) Samsung brings the One UI 6.1 update to India for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 users. It has a download size of around 2.3GB. Hence, ensure a stable internet connection before downloading the update package.

(update-b) Not just India, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 users in Canada are also getting the One UI 6.1 update.

[May 13, 2024]: The One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expanding to the US. The major update carries the firmware version F926U1UEUIXDB  and requires you to spend around 2.2GB of your internet data before you can explore the latest changes.

The update brings Circle to Search as the only Galaxy AI feature. If you haven’t been notified about the update, check it manually via the software update section.

[May 2, 2024]: Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 have joined the One UI 6.1 party, as the awaited update starts rolling out. The latest One UI update is currently available in Samsung’s home country Korea, but there shouldn’t be much delay before it expands to more and more regions.

The third-generation Galaxy foldables are getting the One UI 6.1 update with Galaxy AI, but you may hate Samsung for this. In the name of Galaxy AI, the company has only added the “Circle to Search with Google” feature, sadly.

During Samsung’s 55th annual general shareholders meeting held earlier today, the company’s MX CEO TM Roh said he is reviewing if Galaxy AI features can be brought to older phones.

This doesn’t mean that Galaxy AI features are coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 for sure, but there’s some hope, at least.

[March 13, 2024]: The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is getting a new software update in the US. It’s not what we all are desperately waiting for, but a minor update that brings the March 2024 security patch.

[February 21, 2024]: Samsung has now officially confirmed that One UI 6.1 will start rolling out in late March 2024. Sadly, this rollout timeline is for devices that are eligible for Galaxy AI, which includes the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series.

Samsung didn’t announce when the next One UI upgrade will be available for older devices that won’t get Galaxy AI, such as Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

[February 13, 2024]: Samsung is now bringing the February 2024 security patch to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 users in Korea. The update arrives in the country with the firmware version F711NKSS3HXAC and has a download size of around 320MB.

[February 9, 2024]: The February 2024 security update is now rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 users in the US.

According to recent leaks, Samsung could start rolling out the One UI 6.1 update next month. Keep your fingers crossed for an exciting update without a long delay.

[February 5, 2024]: While users wait for the One UI 6.1 upgrade, Samsung wants to ensure that the device runs the latest security patch; hence, they are rolling out the February 2024 security patch to Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

The update is currently available in Europe with the following firmware versions:

  • Galaxy Z Fold 3: F926BXXS6GXAC
  • Galaxy Z Flip 3: F711BXXS7GXAC

[January 23, 2024]: A Samsung executive told Tech Radar, “For now, we’re limiting Galaxy AI to last-gen devices.” It means that Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 won’t get those Galaxy AI features. However, the phones will get One UI 6.1 in the coming months.

A Samsung Community moderator has shed some light on the One UI 6.1 rollout plan. According to him, One UI 6.1 will be released for the S23 series, S22 series, and S21 series after the February security patch. These devices are confirmed to receive the One UI 6.1 update in H1 2024.

It means that the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 isn’t coming anytime soon. They might receive the update towards the end of H1 2024 or early H2 2024.

[January 18, 2024]: Samsung has confirmed the initial list of devices that’ll get Galaxy AI features, and there’s no mention of Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. So, these devices won’t get Galaxy AI features – at least not anytime soon.

[January 17, 2024]: During the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event today, Samsung announced that Galaxy AI features are coming to select premium devices. However, they didn’t reveal device names.
