It can also be caused by a software bug or system glitches. In this blog, we’ll be taking a look at effective solutions to fix Google Pixel 6 not receiving texts issue.

The Pixel 6 series packs solid hardware, but the software isn’t as amazing as Google is known to offer. In fact, the Pixel 6 owners faced a series of software bugs, which the company keep on resolving by releasing software updates. As if these weren’t enough, Pixel 6 users are now reporting problems with the messaging app. They can’t receive text messages.

If you are also facing issues with receiving texts on your Google Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro, try the solutions below and get it fixed.

Fix: Google Pixel 6 Not Receiving Texts

After trying a solution, check if the problem is solved. If it’s still there, you may need to try the remaining solutions as well. After the problem is fixed, do let us know which method worked for you in the comments. Let’s begin the troubleshooting.

1. Soft Reset Your Pixel 6

A software glitch can cause issues with the messaging service. You can fix it by rebooting the device. It will remove all background processes and free up memory. It does not remove any necessary files from your phone.

To restart your Pixel 6, press and hold the power button and volume up button until you see the power options. Tap on Restart. After restarting your Google Pixel, check whether you can receive messages.

2. Turn Chat Features On/Off

Tweaking the Chat Features on the Google Messages app has done the trick for many users. Open the Messages app, tap on your profile icon, click Messages Settings, and tap on Chat Features. If this feature is already enabled, turn it off or vice-versa.

If turning on/off Chat Features didn’t help, turn it on again and restart your phone. Check if the problem is fixed.

3. Clear App Cache

Nearly all applications on a phone keep on accumulating temporary data called cache. Although it makes the app fast, there are times when this data becomes corrupted and causes issues. You may want to clear the Messages app cache to check if it can fix the issue.

Follow these steps to clear the cache for the Messages app:

  1. Go to Settings and tap on Apps.
  2. Click See all apps.
  3. Now, tap on three dots in the top-right corner and select Show system apps.
  4. Tap on the Messages app.
  5. Click Storage and cache and tap on Clear cache.

4. Reset Network Settings

Resetting the network settings will fix if something is wrong with the network settings on your Google Pixel. It will delete all saved Wi-Fi networks and paired Bluetooth devices. Follow these steps to reset network settings:

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down to System and tap on it.
  3. Tap on Reset options and select Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth.
  4. Click Reset Settings.
  5. Confirm your lock screen (if prompted).
  6. Tap on Reset settings.

5. Use a Different Messaging App

Your phone is not always the source of the problem. There could be a software bug within the Messages app preventing incoming messages. You should update the Messages app from the Google Play Store.

If updating the app doesn’t work, you can switch to a different messaging app. There are many alternatives on the Play Store, but I found SMS Organizer to be the best messaging app. It has been created by Microsoft.

6. Factory Reset the Phone

If you still can’t receive texts on your Google Pixel 6, factory resetting is probably the last thing you can try. It is one of the most effective ways to fix any software issues on a phone as it cleans up the device. Factory reset deletes data from your phone. Thus, you should take a complete backup of your Pixel before doing this.

Here’s how to factory reset your Pixel 6:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down to System and tap on it.
  3. Tap on Reset options.
  4. Click Erase all data (factory reset).
  5. Click Erase all data.
  6. Confirm your lock screen (if prompted) and tap on Erase all data.

After resetting your Pixel 6, set up the device and send a message from another device to this phone to check if the problem is fixed.

We hope one of the solutions helped you in fixing Google Pixel 6 not receiving texts issue. If the issue persists, contact your service provider. They might give you additional ways to fix the messaging issue.
