If the power button is working on your OnePlus phone, you can easily turn on the device, however, turning on the device without the power button takes a little more time. We mentioned some tips as well so that you don’t have to worry again if you enter into the same situation.

How to Turn on OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T Using the Power Button

First, we’ll be looking at the method to turn on your OnePlus phone using the power button. If the button is not working on your phone, go to the next section.

To turn on your OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, or 8T, press and hold the power button until you see the OnePlus logo. The device may take a minute to two to boot up.

It’s quite easy when the power button is working perfectly fine, but when it does not, people start scratching their heads. Don’t worry, check out the solutions below and turn on your OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, or 8T even when the power button is not working.

How to Turn on OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T Without the Power Button

Method 1: Using Download Mode

Step 1: Press and hold the volume down button on your OnePlus phone for 5 seconds. Do not release the button.

Step 2: While you have pressed the volume down button, connect the device to the charger.

Step 3: Keep holding the button until your phone boot to Download mode.

Step 4: On your screen, select the language and find the Reboot option.

Step 5: Tap on Reboot.

Method 2: Using ADB Commands

This method works if you have turned on USB debugging on your OnePlus phone.

Step 1: Download and install ADB & Fastboot tool on your computer.

Step 2: Open the ADB folder. It is created in the C drive after installing the ADB & Fastboot tool.

Step 3: In the address bar, type cmd to open the command prompt. Or, you can press shift + right-click and select Open Windows PowerShell here.

Step 4: On the command window, type ADB devices. If you see a random string of numbers, it means that the ADB connection is successful.

Step 5: Run the following command to reboot the device.

adb reboot

Step 6: Once the device restarts. Unplug the USB cable and close the command window.

Method 3: Schedule Power On/Off

OnePlus phones have a feature to schedule the power on and power off time. It can automatically turn on and turn off the device at a specified time. If your phone accidentally turns off, it will automatically turn on at the scheduled time. You need to keep the device charged.

On OnePlus phones running Android 10 or 11, open the Settings app and go to Utilities > Schedule Power on/off. Set the time as per your convenience.

On OnePlus phones running Android 12 and higher, open the Settings app and go to System settings > Schedule power on/off. Set the power on and power off time.
