What’s New in One UI 6.1?
One UI 6.1 might seem like a minor upgrade over One UI 6.0, but in reality, it’s a big update. Mainly, it’s about Galaxy AI.
This new One UI version debuted on the S24 series and brought features like Circle to Search, converting video to slow-motion, live translation during a phone call, generative wallpaper, photo assist, Android Auto assist, and browser assist.

Samsung has confirmed that most of these Galaxy AI will be coming to a few select devices, including the Galaxy Tab S9 series.
In addition to Galaxy AI features, One UI 6.1 brings smoother animations, performance upgrades, and some new and improved camera features, such as improved single-take mode, a new long-exposure feature, and the ability to colorize B&W images.
The update will also bring cross-device video editing support.

[April 5, 2024]: Samsung delivers the awaited One UI 6.1 update to the Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+, and Tab S9 Ultra users in India. It brings a suite of Galaxy AI features, along with several non-AI features and optimizations.
[March 28, 2024]: Finally!!! One UI 6.1 starts rolling out for the Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+, and Tab S9 Ultra. The update is currently rolling out to 5G models in Europe. The Wi-Fi models should join the party in the coming days.
[March 27, 2024]: In a press release, Samsung said, “One UI 6.1 will roll out to connected versions of Tab S9 series in April.” In the statement, “connected versions” means devices with cellular (5G) connectivity. In other words, Samsung will release the One UI 6.1 update to Wi-Fi + 5G variants of the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra in April.
Only the Wi-Fi model of the Galaxy Tab S9 series will get the One UI 6.1 update this month.
[February 22, 2024]: Samsung has released a timeline for the One UI 6.1 update for Galaxy devices that will also get Galaxy AI features.
The company has confirmed that it will start rolling out the One UI 6.1 update with Galaxy AI to Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Fold 5, Flip 5, and Tab S9 series at the end of March 2024.
Samsung has also revealed a list of Galaxy AI features that’ll come to older devices, including the Tab S9 series:

[February 16, 2024]: Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ is getting the February 2024 security update in the US. It’s currently available on the Verizon network and should expand to other carriers in the coming days.
[January 18, 2024]: Big news! Samsung has revealed the device list that will get Galaxy AI features, and it includes the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Other devices that will also get the AI features are the S23 series, S23 FE, Fold 5, and Flip 5.
The brand will release the Galaxy AI features along with One UI 6.1 to these devices in the first half of 2024, which means by the end of June 2024.
[January 17, 2024]: It’s the Galaxy Unpacked day, and One UI 6.1 debuts the Galaxy S24 series with plenty of AI features.
Samsung has confirmed that Galaxy AI features will come to select premium Galaxy devices. They didn’t reveal device names.
